The Teamnetwork/Contimpianti group attended the congress for the first time, with a stand of its own, where it presented the group’s products and services.
This participation by the Teamnetwork group is part of the project of development that we are starting up towards the markets of Central and South America, for which Mr. Gregorio Bertulessi is our local contact.

In this connection, a branch of Contimpianti will soon be opened in Brazil.
There was a good attendance at the congress, with more than 200 registered participants; the dominant subjects of the semi- nars were safety, maintenance and energy saving.

In an elegant venue in totally British style, this consolidated event, organized by Cement Review, was again confirmed as an interesting meeting place and opportunity to cover in greater depth topics related to the world of cement and the dynami- cs of economic development for Europe, although this year’s show, influenced by the general climate of crisis, did not attract a large number of delegates or exhibitors. The recipes sugge- sted to deal with this particular structural period are oriented on the one hand towards unification and concentrations to reduce costs and gain larger dimensions and greater strength and on the other, to differentiations in terms of geographic location and offer of products and services.

Due to the difficulties that lie ahead in this period of economic uncertainty and stagnation of consumption in Europe and Ame- rica, interest is oriented towards investments in areas outside the EU such as China, India and Nigeria, where demographic changes are under way drawing many people to the large cities, hence there are investments in building, infrastructures and services.

As warm as the climate in the city and as lively and spirited as the Arabs, the 15th Arab International Cement Conference and exhibition was three days’ work of great success and interest. The event attracted 833 delegates and 122 exhibitors, from North Africa – from Morocco to Egypt – and the Middle East – from Lebanon to Saudi Arabia – as well as the major European countries.

The Arab world, concerned by growing rates of development and becoming established on the world scene as an important centre for trade, finance and tourism, is attracting many foreign investors. The rapid economic expansion which began in 2003 is continuing to sustain rates of significant interest. In this con- text, the market dynamics are fast and attracted by the rules of capitalism and technologies and highly advanced plant solutions such as European ones have a guaranteed slice of the market.
